carver

Carver was a very successful man who made something out of nothing. Many people don’t realize that when they set their mind on to something, it can be possible and you may achieve many things. Carver was a very humbled person but that did not stop him from achieving his dreams and trying to help out his own people who had the same background as him. Carver also grew up in one of the hardest times, especially because he was a “Negro”, he was treated differently and not offered the same education others were offered.

Carver never had anything; he was born a slave child. He never had a father or a mother to look after him. He never had the opportunity to meet them but that did not stop Carver from devoting his life to the out doors of Nature. Growing up he educated himself trying to make trash piles and unused items something useable. For example some of the things he has put together and made something are, from wood shavings he made synthetic marble. From peanut shells he made insulating walls for houses, etc. Carver never had the opportunity to meet his mother and all he had of her was a battered old spinning wheel, which remained in his room in Tuskegee. Growing up without having the support of any of his parents was really hard and made Carver struggle more than what he had too. To receive the education he wanted he took chances in which when he was ten years old he decided he wanted to go further in school. He heard of a school away from home in a village called Neosho, Missouri. The family that had charge of him that were referred to as The Carvers wanted him to have an education because they believed he was really smart and passionate about the world and how Nature became its ways. But they offered him no money, but that did not stop Carver without any money he set out over the hills for the school he had heard about in Missouri. Carver still felt like he was capable of more so one day walking along the road he met a group of people who were hitch-hiking heading to Fort Scott, Kansas. He found this the perfect opportunity to go in search of a better future and a new road to success. He attended high school while he worked he’s way through until he graduated, many discriminations came along just because of the fact he was a “Negro” no one believed or wanted a “Negro” to attend to their colleges or schools because they felt they would be affected.

Becoming one of the greatest scientist wasn’t easy, especially not during Carver’s time or situation. In 1897 Carver began to work on the best methods of farming. He had produced a net loss of $16.25 an acre on this land. A year later he treated the soil until is showed a net gain of $4.00 an acre. Carver started making more experiments to see what kind of results he would come up with and demonstrated it to the farmers so the farmers would be aware that by intelligence and industry and simple understanding of the ways Nature, it was possible to make a great deal out of nothing and turn waste and loss into gain. Carver was one of the greatest because he always had set his mind to nothing in this world was a waste, everything could’ve became something useful and necessary. In no moment did Carver gave up, he took everything life had to offer him and made nothing become something.

Carver had many problems, and was discriminated any where he went. He’s thoughts and ideas were not valid at first because no one believed a “Negro” would be capable to change anything in the world, slaves meant nothing. Having no money made it a longer process for Carver to finish his school years on time, because besides just going to school he had to work to pay for his school needs and food and a place to live. Having no one there to push him or help him economically made it complicated but Carver did not give up he knew what he had ahead of him and he knew if he ever wanted to be someone he had to follow his dreams which included him making a difference and helping his own people. “He cares nothing about marketing his products” this proved that Carver was not a selfish man he felt whatever he had discovered he could give it away to anyone who wants them. Carver overcame all his methods and went a long way, to be where he stands today. Money meant nothing to him.

In conclusion, being told he was the greatest of all times he didn’t believe that, he felt he was as every other human and no different. He was a very humbled man and was not satisfied with his work, he felt he could’ve done more for his people and for himself. He did more than what anyone could’ve but that does not convince him, he knew he could’ve changed more if he would’ve had the support of others from the start instead of being put a side just because of his skin color and where he came from.
